Went for lunch at the Southern Sun in south Boulder and the barley-wine which I was told is really the Super Kind Ale. The name change was because the brewer thought the Super Kind tasted more like a barley-wine. Weird, huh? I must say the beer tasted really good, what ever they call it.
If any of you have further information about this, please comment. Thanks!

Upslope Brewing Co
Hey all, just a reminder that Upslope Brewing taproom will be closed for the first 3 weeks in April due to they're expanded into the next unit. They'll have more room for more tables, a larger bar, and they're thinking of installing a dart board.
This week they will be bringing some fantastic beer on tap this coming week. Yesterday the Cabernet barrel-aged 2nd anniversary dark ale was on tap. That is some good tasting beer :)
The imperial stout will be making an appearance along with the Quad, Belgian strong ale. If you have them as a friend on Facebook, Upslope manager, Chad Pieper will keep us posted.

Upslope Brewing Co
This is Dana Olocki's first visit to Upslope Brewing in Boulder. She changed from being a pilsner drinker that day to enjoying the 6.7% whiskey aged brown ale from Upslope Brewing. She commented that the ale had coffee under notes with caramel.

Chocolate Ale
Had a pint of Boulevard Brewing Chocolate Ale at the Falling Rock Tap House in Denver. This was a very surprising pint of delicious chocolate that wasn't a stout. It has an amber hue coloring with a lovely aroma of chocolate. The beer was infused with nibs of Dominican Republic chocolate. The flavor is an intense chocolate with a touch of vanilla, roasted malt, and a sweetness that if you closed your eyes you'd think you were drinking a pure chocolate concoction. It's also a 9% alcohol beer that doesn't taste that big.
What's new on tap at the Avery Brewing taproom.
Avery Brewing taproom has a whiskey barrel aged old smoky, it's a German style smoke beer, rauchbier. It's 9.0% that is very sweet with a smoke aroma and slight whiskey back end. I was surprised that I enjoyed this smoke beer.

Upslope Satellite Taproom at the West End Tavern, Boulder
Starting last January, West End Tavern has hosted a satellite taproom for selected breweries on the first Thursday of the month. On that Thursday night they will have over ten taps dedicated to the breweries rare beers along with their flagship beers. The West End kicked off with Avery Brewing Co and this Thursday it was Upslope Brewing 11 beers on tap. All 11 beers were on tap in the upstairs enclosed patio.
It was great to be able to drink the Cabernet barreled-aged dark belgian strong ale and oak-age imperial stout again. They had a great turn out!
