Avery Brewing

Spending an afternoon at Avery Brewing in Boulder. Drinking a pint of Lilikoi Kepolo, a Belgian style wheat infused with a lot of passion fruit. It's 5.9%ABV. Larry has 3 tasters of Maharaja, Reverend, and Salvation. Fries from Savory Cuisines from across the alley, all is good!

The Bruery tap takeover at Hops and Pie Pizzeria and tap house

Saturday was a fantastic day for beer with the The Bruery Brewing Co tap takeover at Denver's Hops and Pie Pizzeria. The Bruery beer flowed from 5 taps with their Marketing Director, Benjamin Weiss on hand to give the personal touch for the brewery. Benjamin was friendly to the Hops and Pie patrons and discussed The Bruery beers.

The Bruery beers from light to dark; Mischief, a hoppy Belgian style golden strong ale that is dry hopped with American hops which adds layers of complexity. It is citrus with a fruitiness of pear, ripe melon, and slight pepper undertones. This ale is always a good. 8.5% ABV, so light is just the color of the beer.

Tradewinds is the next beer, it is a Trippel. This summer seasonal Belgian style golden ale that has gone Asian infused were they use rice in the mash and then spiced with Thai Basil. This ale is aromatic and complex beer but easy to drink. 8% ABV.

The next ale was one of my favorites, Nottenroth, an ale brewed with kumquats. This is a very light beer with a fruity flavor, not a sour note was detected. Nottenroth was very smooth and only slightly sweet. This beer can easily be a summer lounging in the sun ale. Only 2.08% ABV.

Otiose is a sweet tart beer. It is a sour brown ale fermented with guava. The brewers named it an old English word for "without practical purpose," they wanted to brew a brown ale with gave and there was space in the schedule, so... I enjoyed this sour brown, at 8.2% ABV.

The last beer was a Oaked-aged American red ale, Loakal Red. This red was not my favorite, too bitter and hoppy. Loakal Red has 6.9% ABV.
Of course this being at lunch time, we ordered a Rueben sandwich with pastrami, beer braised brisket, bacon slaw, gruyere cheese, thousand island dressing on rye bread. I loved this but it was a large sandwich that my husband and I shared.

Choice City Butcher for Brunch

We're in Ft. Collins at Choice City Butchers for brunch, well actually I'm having lunch. On tap is Hot Rocks, a Dunkle from Port Brewing, very tasty and at 6.5% not too strong. It's a dark lager but not malty with a roasty caramel chocolate aroma and flavor with slight after taste.
